SYNOPSIS: Do we focus to much on the law? Does the church focus to much on grace and freedom? What does MESSIAH YESHUA say about this subject? Mat 23:23  "Woe to you hypocritical Torah-teachers and P'rushim! You pay your tithes of mint, dill and cumin; but you have neglected the weightier matters of the Torah—justice, mercy, trust. These are the things you should have attended to—without neglecting the others! This is our key verse for today. This verse has 6 different sections we will study today.

Mat 28:17  When they saw him, they prostrated themselves before him; but some hesitated. 

Mat 28:18  Yeshua came and talked with them. He said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 

Mat 28:19  Therefore, go and make people from all nations into talmidim, immersing them into the reality of the Father, the Son and the Ruach HaKodesh, 

Mat 28:20  and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age."

Rom 7:7  Therefore, what are we to say? That the Torah is sinful? Heaven forbid! Rather, the function of the Torah was that without it, I would not have known what sin is. For example, I would not have become conscious of what greed is if the Torah had not said, "Thou shalt not covet."

WEIGHTIER MATTERS/PROVISIONS: G926 βαρύς barus Thayer Definition: 1) heavy in weight 2) metaphorically (burdensome, severe, stern)

 

TORAH: G3551 νόμος nomos Thayer Definition: 1) a law or rule producing a state approved of God 2) by the observance of which is approved of God 3) a precept or injunction 4) the rule of action prescribed by reason 5) of the Mosaic law, and referring, acc. to the context. either to the volume of the law or to its contents

 

JUSTICE: G2920 κρίσις krisis Thayer Definition: 1) a trial, contest 2) selection 3) judgment 4) sentence of condemnation, damnatory judgment, condemnation and punishment

MERCY: G1656 ἔλεος eleos Thayer Definition: 1) mercy: kindness or good will towards the miserable and the afflicted, joined with a desire to help them 2) of men towards men: to exercise the virtue of mercy, show one’s self merciful

Micah 6:8 what YEHOVAH demands of you.

Mic 6:8  Human being, you have already been told what is good, what YEHOVAH demands of you—no more than to act justly, love grace and walk in purity with your God. 

 

Ref. Pro 21:3  To do what is right and just is more pleasing to YEHOVAH than sacrifice. 

 

Ref. Hos 6:6  For what I desire is mercy, not sacrifices, knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

TRUST/FAITHFULNESS: G4102 πίστις pistis Thayer Definition: conviction of the truth. A conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things.
